James turned 34 on Wednesday and we had planned to go to Rochester to the Harbor Freight store, Ollies and out to dinner. On Tuesday, my friend Jane offered to take the girls that night if we wanted to go alone. We did. It was so nice to go shopping without worrying about feedings and fussiness. We also got to have a nice dinner at a great Korean restaurant that we found. On wednesday, we had a nice dinner at home and relaxed.
On Thursday the girls had well-child visits to the doctor. Both of them got shots. Catie got 3 and Lydia got 4 and an oral vaccine. Poor girls. They're tough, though, and only cried a little bit. I have a hard time with illness and shots. I worked as a pediatric nurse for almost a year, but it's so hard when it's your own child that you have to hold while someone gives them a shot. I do actually cry when they are crying at that point (although, i usually wait until the nurse is out of the room.)
On Friday, James' parents came for a visit from Virginia. They are working on moving up here and had a meeting about a possibility this morning. We are praying that it works out.
We broke down and bought air conditioners for the girls' rooms. They weren't sleeping well in the heat and that translates to rough days. The cost of the AC is worth the good sleep. We don't have AC in our room, but we are both native NYers and can handle a few nights of heat once in a while.
I hope the temp goes down a bit. Catie has so much fun being outdoors, but Lydia can't handle it, which means Catie missed out sometimes. poor Cate.

aunt rachel needs to move closer so that she can take catie outside to play when it gets too hot for baby.
